Pronunciation: ex·hil·a·rat·ing

Origin: 1530–40; < L exhilarātus ptp. of exhilarāre to gladden, equiv. to ex- ex- 1 + hilarāre to cheer

Example: I attended an auction the other day – it was really exhilarating!
