M.Y.O. Medal

Posted by MyLaowai on Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Today is a very exciting day. For starters, it’s International Communist Women’s Day, and that surely is very exciting. It’s also Fat Tuesday, or, as Americans call it, Every Tuesday. Wow. It’s also on this day in history that Johannes Kepler discovered the third law of planetary motion, which states that the universe revolves around Peking, or so I’m told.

But none of this compares to last Saturday, when the whole world celebrated Lei Feng Day.

Oh yes indeed! Lei Feng, the most famous hero of them all, the National Hero of China and sock-washer extraordinaire, is remembered every March 5th. He was truly a great man, and washed many socks. He was also run over by a reversing truck. Twice. After being wrapped in barbed wire. By his best friend. By accident, really it was. He even earned a medal for it.

I think it says something about China that the National Hero is celebrated for doing something nice (i.e. washing socks for other people). And for being run over by a slowly reversing truck. Twice. It really is no wonder that his memory is so revered.

And now you, too, can share in the joy of Lei Feng. Simply print this Lei Feng Commemorative Medal*, cut it out, and wear it with pride upon your very own sunken chest. You will be the envy of your friends. It even comes with free Oak Leaf Cluster, for brave heroes who are run over twice whilst washing socks.

Just remember to be careful around reversing trucks.

* Or go here and buy it. Your call, really.

A Lei Feng medal to that village chief that was “run over” by a speeding 2kph truck over in Zhejiang recently.

Yes yes, Lei Feng and all that.

Most local runts have no idea who the hell he was and really, let’s be honest, it’s only laowai who’ll bring up the topic of ‘Lei Feng’ at some dinner or tea or where-ever with locals and they’ll roll their eyes and wonder, why is this fucking foreigner going on about Lei Feng, none of us do. But yes, Mr. Lao Wai, the medal that you put together is a rather impressive bit of novice photo-shop skills.

How about an ‘Ode to the Chinese Hoe’. You’re very creative. I’m sure you could come up with something to get us all rolling with laughter and we’d send the link to our friends in the civilized West who know jack about Chinky-land. Maybe something along the lines you did with ‘This is Your Life Mr. Wang’. Now that was fucking great. By the way, I know a few Mr. Wangs.

    Ok…

    Well.

I’m still a fan of yours.

In fact it’s only on your site that I feel I can find genuine therapeutic relief from the day to day grind here.

Here’s a good one…. A local I speak to often always mixes Chinese with English. I wished he’d just speak Chinese with me ’cause it’s easier for him but there you go. Every now and then he comes up with a perfect blend of Chinglish, the latest ‘in 不 interesting’.

    Cheers.

Let’s face it: as laowai’s, we’ll usually – even now, as the motherland has become great and prosperous – mainly socialize with members of China’s “middle class”, i. e., given the demographic proportions, they probably rather constitute an upper class of somewhat more independent professionals.
When you are a poor Chinese bugger, you will meet Lei Feng on an annual basis. He’ll always look after you – don’t worry.

Reminds me of something I read years ago. There’s a Lei Feng Museum in Nanchang, and apparently some waiguoren who was an expert photographer pointed something out to the museum director in the alleged photos of Comrade Lei Feng on exhibit (the color perhaps) which indicated that they could not have been taken before Lei’s tragic demise in 1962. The director freely admitted that the photos on display were not of Lei Feng, but were “re-creations”. That’s Zhongguostan for you.

By the way, I highly resent the implication that we Americans are a bunch of fatasses who have trouble cramming our lard-swollen rumps into our gas guzzling SUVs for the two minute drive to The Burger Trough while whining about gas prices that would thrill Europeans. I resent it very very much. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to get back to chowing down on my triple cheeseburger and fried apple pie. Extra gravy on the french (excuse me, I mean “freedom”) fries!

Who was talking about Americans, Sinoholic? Btw, the museum director was hardly an “ordinary citizen” either.

Well we all know practically every yellow runt is gleeful that the noble Japanese people are dealing with a huge natural disaster – natural meaning not caused by people or ummm yellow runts, who cause most of the problems in chinky-land and neighbouring countries.

Whatd’yasay all the commie yellow runts meeting in Greyjing and their canvas-shod PLA cohorts think now would be a good time to invade Japan.

Honk if you have a weeny dick!

is very good for us the chinese. so happy japan destroys now and get big quakes and japanese die all.good chance for china now to take japan for china.very good we like in china!china raise now more faster and getting more rich!

Don’t want to act the dog in the manger, Nips, but I think there’s a fine line between making fun of Chinese ueber-nationalists or “China’s peaceful rise” on the one hand, and suggesting that practically every yellow runt was gleeful about Japan’s sad and challenging days.

I doubt that, and I wouldn’t want to suggest that this was a reality. Most Chinese people I know, and – I believe – most Chinese people I happened to talk with only once, don’t and didn’t leave the impression on me that they would be gleeful right now. Yes – some of them may join another anti-Japanese demonstration once the occasion arises, but not for the duration of a pious time-out. Chinese people in general are no moral hulks.

Nationalists and outright fascists are a strong group in China for sure (they only hate foreign fascists), and definitely numerous enough to be a force to be reckoned with for the authorities. After all, the Chinese Communist Party both distrusts and cultivates their mindset.

Let’s point out how ridiculous they and their mental slaveholders are – but let’s not act as if Chinese people in general were naturally-born buggers. Besides, you don’t need to be Chinese to be careless in the face of human suffering. Remember Sharon Stone?

    • Nips Are Great said

Chinese people in general are naturally moral vacuums, the CCP has made them so.

I don’t doubt that, and I am suggesting that is the reality. Most Chinese I know, and – I believe – most Chinese people I happened to talk with only once, left that impression on me. Yes – some of them may join another let’s-say-something-kind-about-the-dirty-Nips-group just so our country doesn’t completely lose face when the occasion arises. But, that’s of course just for ‘face’ and is meaningless. Chinese people in general are moral hulks.

      So Justrecently…

You’re welcome to doubt whatever you want, like the Earth is round for example.

You’re welcome to suggest to others your version of reality; Yes, the moon really is made of cheese. Well, how do you know it’s not?

And if you want to believe there’s a Mahatma Gandhi or a Mother Teresa in every third local runt just bursting to get out and waiting for the right opportunity, that’s fine by me.

But, Justrecently, you’re wrong. You’re wrong for many reasons but how about; Because you underestimate the power of an incessant and vile anti-Nip propaganda campaign that the CCP has promoted for two full generations.

This morning on Chinese T.V. it was rather strange to see more than the usual amount of anti-Nip WWII movies/shows. Even the national movie channel was showing ‘Pearl Harbour’, the American fantasy remake where in the end they bomb Tokyo and crash land in Chinky-land. The guys in the office were watching it – not making sales calls – saying things like ‘Kill the Japanese bastards.’ The Chinese boss, (probably a Party member) was encouraging this.

So the message is: To be a ‘good’ local runt one necessarily must hate the Nips, regardless of whatever calamity befalls them NEVER feel sorry for them, always HATE them.

And quite frankly, Sharon Stone got it right.

      Jump higher grasshopper.

  12. justrecently said

    Nips:

our differences are by no means as big as you seem to believe. We both agree that this planet is round. Relax. Take a deep breath. Then try reading again.

Most of your criticism and assumptions (Gandhi / Mother Teresa) can be explained with your unwillingness or inability to read carefully what other people write – so I’ll not react to that.

A few words about what you misread. You mentioned Chinese television. I said myself that the Chinese Communist Party both distrusts and cultivates (the nationalists’) mindset. I didn’t mention television – I wrote about demonstrations.
You didn’t miss that line – you only tried to turn it into a more desirable direction: Yes – some of them may join another let’s-say-something-kind-about-the-dirty-Nips-group just so our country doesn’t completely lose face when the occasion arises.

That’s just your interpretation of other peoples’ behavior. If you think you can read peoples’ minds, you are showing off more hubris – and paranoia, as the two conditions complement each other – than China’s totalitarian government itself. The CCP would like to read peoples’ minds for sure, but they aren’t there yet. Only because your interpretation may suit your picture of the world, or a country, it doesn’t need to be accurate. Enmity, Chinese or otherwise, doesn’t need to be boundless – but I can see from what you write that this concept is hard for you to understand.
If you base your views on the observation of people in your sales office or call center, I’d say that’s a pretty insufficient control sample.

Chinese people in general are naturally moral vacuums, the CCP has made them so. – To be naturally CCP-made is an oxymoron. Advice for a beginner: if you want to debate with someone, address his position as is, not as you’d like it to be. Otherwise, it’s no point in an argument.

You’re wrong for many reasons but how about; Because you underestimate the power of an incessant and vile anti-Nip propaganda campaign that the CCP has promoted for two full generations. You forgot the question mark, Nips.
Sure, the CCP are doing their best at that, but they are only the latest generation of Chinese upper-crust people who try that approach.

Many Chinese people do hate “the Japanese”. And at least some Japanese hate or despise “the Chinese”. I guess they’ll never forgive the Chinese for what they’ve done to their country, and quite a number of their people, during the war.
Blanket hatred is stupid, and even under CCP rule, it is still the responsibility of every Chinese individual to judge things more wisely. Many do. You can find examples of more positive Chinese attitudes towards Japan online – it’s not as if such attitudes were banned in China. And if you haven’t heard similar discussions in the real Chinese world, you are hanging out with different people than I am. That’s no good reason for you to claim that you have the full picture (practically every yellow runt).
Try this article, or that one – do a pagesearch there with the words When I meet new people. Soong’s website could use some more permalinks. These articles or posts show a much more mixed picture than yours. (I won’t add too many links, so as not to get this comment filtered. Do a search yourself, if you care.)
Good judgment is no mere matter of education or class background either. Many of the most underexposed nationalist dickheads are actual or potential members of China’s “middle class”, i. e. upper class.

I’m no friend of the Chinese people. A fairly comprehensive statement of my views on China can be found here. (I doubt that you can read a post of that length with much benefit – but I rarely lose hope.)

That said, if you judge China as indiscriminately as many Chinese hate Japan, you are working exactly among the right company – you people deserve each other, no matter if you are yellow, white, or green. That’s actually a difference between you and MLW. A good sense of humor, and the preparedness to observe, rather than hating people’s behavior, can make things a lot easier, and makes a foreigner good company, sometimes even for Japan-hating Chinese people. Who do you want to blame for your own anger and resentment, Nips? The Chinese in general, the CCP in particular, or both? Cry me a river.

And if I’m a grasshopper, you’ll probably come back to this world as a horsefly without airfoils, next life.

    Mind your karma.

There’s some serious logical flaws here boyo.

“The CCP would like to read peoples’ minds for sure, but they aren’t there yet”

Who needs to? Simply control the way they think. This is reasonably easy. Censor the shit out of everything they see, and ensure they get bombarded with propaganda during schooling. Have you heard those daily blasts at public schools? Good lord.

      > If you base your views on the observation of people in your sales office or call center, I’d say that’s a pretty insufficient control sample.

As you haven’t been able to justify your control sample above and beyond casual acuqaintainces, that makes at least two of us in perfect agreemement as to the real representative portion. Students were messaging me chortling in delight over it! The list goes on, but my god.

      > To be naturally CCP-made is an oxymoron.

We are a product of both genetics and environment. Their natural environment is the CCP. Avoid semantics and address the real issue please.

      >, it is still the responsibility of every Chinese individual to judge things more wisely.

NO! It is NOT their responsibility and it is NOT a concept they are used to perceiving. Responsibility is something you can shift in China.

      > Many do.

Oh please, … jus … no. Not at all.

European I am. Great. Fingers and chopsticks are best. Yeah. Fuck yeah!

China? Oh, i enjoy my daily chemicals in the meat in China. I wish we would have

And you are a very smart one. Your data must be wrong. Must be. Only stupid idiots publish their contact data on the internet. Right? Hhmm? Yes? Are you really that stupid? Nooo..come on!

So, Mr. black chinese man, I’ll tell you something. Yes it is true: I lived together with a (black) Sambian woman for 3 years. She was a great person, I loved her a lot, but certain circumstances led to our depart. C’est la vie. Right? Nope, I am not a racist. Really not.

I am sorry for you. Now that you have shown your real face to the world. Somehow. A little, right? Too late to make it unhappened, my ignorant friend. Google ate it already. And the internet never, ever, forgets anything.

So, black chinese man. You are coming to China I understand? That’s hard. Next time you fuck a little cheap poor chinese whore in her little asshole (hopefully before she took a complete dump) and little pussy hole (hopefully after her juicy red bloody period) and spicy mouth hole (hopefully after washing out her last spicy chengdu dish) with your little chinese Zimbabwe dick, don’t forget to use a condom. Cooooonnnndoooom? Understand Africa Chinese, Wannabe Arian? AIDS is a real danger here in your beloved China. Really. Mr. Black Chinese. Mr. 0112337. Do a HIV test…honestly. Will you tell the terrible result to your wife? Do you have one? or two? A plastic sex puppy?

Good luck. You really know how to make friends here.
You are a poor guy. Please keep posting. Complete the image.

Life is too boring without some humor.

I printed this medal out today and sticked it on my chinese wife’s flat breast – including her father, mother and on some others of her intrusive and selfish kin. That fucking cold chinese greedy bitch and her fucking primitive kin. No surprise: They didn’t get it! **G**

Anthing that doesn’t fit into their stomachs is alien to them. Thanks mylaowai you made my divorce much easier!
